I am involved in the Education of an Architect. What is meant by that? I work in a university and I was trained as an architect and now as a researcher. I picked up a lot of other skills and now I am faced with another journey in educating students who wants to be architects or who may not end up as architects as we have clearly know.
In a series of blog posts I wish to explore the idea of what constitutes the factors in educating an architect. I can pursue several approaches where, I only concentrate on providing the training necessary for the students to acquire skills pertaining to only being an architect at the end of the day, or provide a generic set of skills, or in way looking at providing the core skills and enhancing those skills further by providing depth to the skills. These are assertions that I wish to explore and try to rationalise the philosophy behind educating the students to be architects.
Since our school had been recognised by the RIBA we seek the definition explained by the RIBA. Book by the Cooper Union.
